About Nathan Kinkead PDF Print E-mail

Introduction

For years, I have been building attractive, intuitive, functional websites and developing advanced back-end productivity web applications using various programming languages.

I pride myself in programming websites that are not only easy to use and dynamic, but also provide a means for clients to be able to edit their own text and pictures with convenient content management interfaces.  It has always been my objective to utilize my knowledge, my creativity, and the technology available in today's world in order to provide dynamic, self-sustaining websites that produce impressive results.

Experience

Project Lead, Internet Strategy

Sept. 2007 - Current

Senior Website Programmer

I was the Senior Website Programmer for an interactive agency specializing in the hospitality industry, buiding and maintaining websites and interactive marketing tools for several hotels, resorts, golf clubs, spas, etc.

While I was the one person responsible for programming many websites from the ground up based off of design's photoshop files, I also worked on many internal websites and admin tools, as well as the day to day change orders to the numerous client websites we maintained.

This position allowed me to rapidly develop my website programming knowledge and skills by paying extra close attention to detail.  I built and repurposed many content management systems and other admin tools for clients to update their own websites.

Freelancing

I have been building websites since 1996. In 1998, I started building websites for clients.  In 2002, I began my own freelancing business, KinkeadWeb.com, when I built my Customer Control Center (an online interface for submitting project requests, communicating status, and billing).

Skills

Areas of Expertise

  • HTML/CSS - Using Adobe Dreamweaver, I excel in HTML formatting for almost any challenging website design.  I have extensive knowledge and experience that allows me to manipulate HTML and CSS code in order to generate visual perfection from any browser.
  • PHP - My ability to develop advanced PHP web applications is my 'flagship' skill.  I use it in everything I do... from complex database-driven conent management systems to simple snippets of code within normal HTML code.  PHP is my staple for web development.
  • MySQL - Any outstanding web application that provides dynamic interactive content begins with a database.  Using phpMyAdmin or Navicat, I create and customize MySQL normalized databases and all their attributes, write advanced query statements, and display the produced data in creative and functional ways.
  • Javascript - Javascript is an endless supply of dynamic functionality.  I frequently write, edit and use javascript code in conjuction with PHP and MySQL to create amazingly interactive web applications.
  • Flash - I use Flash to create visually stimulating image treatments, graphics, animations, navigation bars, etc.  Whether I am creating a Flash treatment on a home page image, or I am creating a completely Flash website, Flash is astoundingly versitile and powerful software.

  • Graphic Design (Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, Flash)
  • Multi-browser/platform compatibility (IE, Firefox, Safari, Camino, etc.)
